County Lines is sharing an exciting lineup of art shows, gallery exhibits and tours for enjoying the inspired works of our local artists. Visit some of our favorite art galleries and museums, then stroll through West Chester for its annual Spring Gallery Walk and take a drive to join Chester County’s Studio Tour. Your soul will be glad you did.

Yellow Springs Art Show

Join the celebration of art at the 53rd Annual Yellow Springs Art Show through May 10, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily. For more than five decades, this exhibition has featured an exciting display of works from more than 200 regional and national artists. Showcased in the historic Lincoln Building galleries, the artworks fill the space with creative energy.

Treat yourself to a relaxed evening at a Happy Hour on Friday, May 1, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sip refreshing drinks and nibble light bites from Cedar Hollow Inn while feasting your eyes on beautiful art.

Downtown West Chester Gallery Walk

Discover the vibrant and evolving art scene in Downtown West Chester during the Spring Gallery Walk on Friday, May 1, 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Browse the many exciting pieces during your self-guided walking tour. Wander through the charming borough streets as you visit the galleries and “one-night-only” venues that highlight talented local artists. All this while enjoying the downtown vibe on the First Friday of the month, when shops and restaurants offer specials.

Hosted by Downtown West Chester, this evening is free and open to the public, along with free on-street parking starting at 4 p.m. Refreshments are available at many stops along your route, so be sure to get a map in the brochure available online and at participating locations. 18th Annual Wayne Art Center Plein Air Festival

Enjoy the art of 32 juried artists at the 18th annual Wayne Art Center Plein Air Festival, May 3 to 9. For six days, these talented artists will capture the beauty of the Delaware Valley in a range of styles and media. These stunning works will fill the art center’s galleries through June 20.

A full schedule of events will be available during the festival and exhibition, including community paint-outs, artist demos and lectures. Chester County Studio Tour

Experience an extraordinary weekend of art, inspiration and discovery at the 16th annual Chester County Studio Tour on May 16 and 17. This unique opportunity lets you get closer to the creative world of local artists and meet them face to face, many where they work. Featuring 172 artists across multiple studios, this interactive self-driving tour invites you into the creative spaces where art comes to life.

Explore a diverse collection of exhibits this spring at the Brandywine Museum of Art. On display through May 31, “Cropsey, Wyeth, and the American Landscape Tradition” includes a collection of masterworks by Jasper Francis Cropsey, the leading artist of the Hudson River School. Also on view is “John Sloan’s Street Theater,” a unique display representing the Ashcan School, an early-20th-century movement depicting the realities of modern life in New York City. And enjoy the works of 10 contemporary still life artists in “Abundance/Excess: A Contemporary Eye on Still Life,” on display through June 7.

A new exhibit, on display May 22 through November 8, “Treasures from the Family: The Gift of Betsy James Wyeth,” will feature the art and archival material from a major bequest from the late wife of deceased Andrew Wyeth. Finally, “By Design: The Worlds of Betsy James Wyeth” opens June 27 and explores her legacy in visual art for the first time. 1 Hoffman’s Mill Rd., Chadds Ford. Brandywine.org

At the Delaware Art Museum, visit “Living Indigenous,” on display through August 23, showcasing the creative contributions of Indigenous artists living in and connected to Delaware.

For something different, experience Jamey Grimes’ “Aster” installation, through December 2027, to explore space and movement through sculptural experimentation, and “Photovoice,” through September 6, a multimedia display using storytelling and photography (with cyanotypes) to explore identity, loss, resilience and belonging.

Stop by for a relaxing evening at the Sculpture Garden Happy Hours, Thursdays, 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., during the museum’s free Thursday evening hours. Chester County Art Association’s Art in the Woods

Enjoy an outdoor art experience, hosted by the Chester County Art Association, on Saturday, May 30, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. “Art Sprouts: The First Spring Art in the Woods,” behind the Art Association building, features 80 talented artists’ original paintings, sculptures, jewelry and more in the fresh spring air. Imagine the future through artists’ unique perspectives at “Future Forward,” hosted by the Art Trust at Meridian Bank, through May 8. An invitation to wonder and explore what the future holds, this curated exhibit features works from 23 contemporary artists. It’s also part of West Chester’s Gallery Walk on May 1. The Art Trust also presents “Surroundings,” May 13 to June 26, featuring art that highlights our human experiences and emotions. “Future Forward”at the Art Trust at Meridian Bank

Stop by Square Pear Fine Art Gallery to view “Behind the Work” before the exhibit ends on Sunday, May 3. Visitors are treated to a rare look at what inspires the artists in this up-close-and-personal view of the artistic process and how they bring their art to life. “In Bloom,” on display through July 12, features the work of artists inspired by the spring and summer seasons, filled with bursts of color and growth. 200 E. See award-winning work from some of the region’s most exciting young artists and designers at the West Chester University 2026 Senior BFA Exhibition, through May 4 at the John H. If you’re making plans for this summer, consider an evening of art at Craft & Mercantile, a curated night market celebrating local makers and artisans. The markets bring local artists and the community together for art, refreshments and entertainment under the stars (and twinkle lights).
