Our picks for top events this month

Silent Book Clubs

Meet monthly

This nationwide meetup trend for book fans has come to the Brandywine Valley with several groups in our area (Kennet Square, Media, West Chester). BYOB (bring your own book) gatherings welcome e-book, audiobook (with headphones) and old-school print book readers to come together in a calm, shared, changing space. Check in, read for an hour, then chat. Silent crafters are also welcome, so knitters and others can join in for some quiet during the holidays and beyond. Check online for a group near you.

Small Business Saturday

November 28

Mark the Saturday after Thanksgiving (Nov. 28) once again to buy local. Or it’s bye-bye local! Small business — including independently owned restaurants — need support all year to keep our towns filled with charming options for shopping and dining, and the holidays are especially important. West Chester plans a whole weekend celebration (Nov. 27–29), with special deals, perks and in-store events. Similar shop-local promotions are planned throughout Brandywine Valley towns as the holiday season gets underway.
