Good to Know: November 2026
Just a few things we’d thought you’d like to know this month
Anniversary News
We’re celebrating 50 years of County Lines in some pretty special ways! The Pennsylvania State Senate has issued an official citation recognizing our milestone, sponsored by Senator Carolyn Comitta. And a copy of our 50th anniversary issue is now part of West Chester’s America 250 Time Capsule, waiting to be rediscovered in 2076 during America’s Tricentennial. That’s a long time to wait for a good read! Luckily, you can revisit all our stories, past and present, anytime at CountyLinesMagazine.com.
Art on Track

Downtown Media has a new mural celebrating its trolley-town charm. The Media Arts Council recently unveiled “A Postcard from Everybody’s Hometown” in the garden between the Pennsylvania Veterans Museum and Kung Fu Tea. Designed by Stephanie Untz and installed by Media’s own Carrie Kingsbury, it features the iconic 1940s-era Red Arrow trolley that ran through State Street until 1981. Today, Media is one of the last small towns in America with an active trolley on its main street. MediaArtsCouncil.org
Forever Green
French & Pickering Creeks Conservation Trust has permanently protected two Chester County properties. In West Vincent Township, 78.3 acres of farmland and woods expand a protected landscape to 236 acres, including Natural Lands’ Bryn Coed Preserve. In North Coventry Township, a new conservation easement safeguards 13 acres, including wetlands and a stream corridor flowing into the Schuylkill River. These conservation wins preserve open space, wildlife habitat and the county’s rural character. FrenchAndPickering.org
Rustic Romance

A former dairy farm in Kennett Square has become a wedding and event venue. Overlooking the Willowdale Steeplechase grounds, Willowdale honors the property’s heritage with beautiful gathering spaces: the Silo Courtyard for outdoor ceremonies, the Kitchen Garden and Millstone Lounge for cocktails, and The Loft, with vaulted arches, custom chandeliers and room for 300. Plus, the iconic Yellow House offers eight overnight rooms and two private suites. 115 E. Street Rd. JAMHospitality.com/Venues/Willowdale
Christmas in Color
Add a little local art to your holiday gift list with “Emotional Christmas,” a new book by local author Bruce E. Mowday. The book showcases 36 paintings of Christmas and holiday scenes by Chadds Ford’s Karl J. Kuerner, the only artist to study under Andrew and Carolyn Wyeth. This is the third in Mowday and Kuerner’s “Emotional” series, following “Emotional Gettysburg” and “Emotional Brandywine.” Find it at your local independent bookstore. KarlJKuerner.com; Mowday.com
