October 2026 Food News in the Brandywine Valley
A few of our favorite things to share this month about local food and drink
Cheers to the Wheel
Root Down Brewing rolled out Phoenix Wheel, a new American pale ale created in collaboration with Schuylkill River Heritage to celebrate and raise funds for the borough’s historic 133-year-old Phoenix Wheel. Light, crisp and pale golden, the 5.3% ABV beer features citrusy hops and low bitterness. A second version followed: Phoenix Wheel II, a wheat beer with citrus notes and an oat body. Find both at Root Down and select local spots. 1 N. Main St., Phoenixville. RootDownBrewing.com
Pasta Buffet
On Thursday nights, upstairs at Northbrook MarketPlace, you’ll find a surprise — an all-you-can-eat Italian buffet, featuring cavatappi and linguini with rotating sauces, chicken Marsala, meatballs, eggplant Parmesan, lasagna, homemade pizza, salads, garlic bread and desserts. BYOB and be sure to snag an apple cider donut. 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. $25.95/person, $12.50/kids. Reservations recommended. 1805 Unionville-Wawaset Rd., West Chester. NorthbrookMarketPlace.com
MexVen?
A new Mexican and Venezuelan restaurant joined the mix in downtown West Chester. Los Sombreros recently opened in the short-lived Bored Trading Café spot, now serving tacos, burritos, enchiladas and other Mexican favorites alongside Venezuelan specialties (hoping to see arepas, cachapas and more). The casual spot offers dine-in and takeout, with a menu designed for a quick lunch or a relaxed dinner. 139 W. Gay St. @Los_Sombreros26

New to Malvern’s Worthington Center, EGAWA Japanese Dining delivers an elegant, modern take on Japanese cuisine. The menu showcases premium sushi, sashimi, hand rolls, signature rolls, robata skewers and Japanese entrées, emphasizing fresh seafood and traditional techniques. Plus chef’s selections or omakase ($100). The serene dining room makes for a zen experience. 650 Carnegie Blvd. EgawaMalvern.com
