June 2026 Food News in the Brandywine Valley

Written by County Lines Magazine

A few of our favorite things to share this month about local food and drink

Proximity

For the new enoteca, Proximity Wine Bar, opening in former Catherine’s restaurant spot, that covers wines from producers within a 100-mile radius. Former Chaddsford Winery’s Corey Krejcik dreamed of this community-centered celebration of local producers and local agriculture, featuring hyper-local wines and a seasonally inspired menu by Chef Steve Forte. Penns Woods Winery, Casa Carmen Wines, Stony Run Winery and Walz Vineyard will provide the early offerings. 1701 W. Doe Run Rd., Unionville. ProximityWineBar.com

West Chester 0, Wilmington 1

Iron Hill Brewery’s former West Chester location on Gay and High Streets will become another MaGerk’s Pub & Grill (also in Lionville), a Maryland-based franchise for pub-style food. Meanwhile, the Iron Hill on Wilmington’s Riverfront reopened Mother’s Day, under management by a group including original founder Mark Edelson. Five other Iron Hills have been salvaged so far since their abrupt closure in 2025. 620 Justison St., Wilmington. IronHillBrewery.us

Hard Stuff

West Chester distillery Cutter & Cannon Spirits is expanding from their original Carter Drive location with plans to open a tasting room, bar and bottle shop on Gay Street, across from the old post office. Look for ample seating for sipping their specialty cocktails from house-made run, whiskey, bourbon and gin. Check social media for progress. 104 E. Gay St. & 210 Carter Dr. CutterAndCannon.com

Not NA Beer

Responding to beer-drinking trends, Pottstown’s Sly Fox Brewing has collaborated with Lehigh Valley’s Pivo Nova Brewing to produce PA’s first mid-strength craft beer brand, Soul Tone with 2.5% ABV. The full-bodied, hoppy West Coast-style IPA and a crisp German-style lager are brewed with traditional methods to retain authentic craft flavor but with a lower alcohol level. Available for responsible enjoyment in bars, restaurants and at retail outlets. SoulToneBeer.com

Our Bad

When a neighborhood gathering spot turns 80, the celebration should continue all year. So, although we missed the April milestone for West Chester’s Square Bar — with the regulars and new fans at the parking lot party — we suggest a visit to check out what’s contributed to its longevity.
