12th Annual Wilmington Grand Prix & Gran Fondo—May 17–19

Take a ride this weekend at the Wilmington Grand Prix & Gran Fondo! Start the weekend at Monkey Hill in Brandywine Park for the Time Trial and Kick-Off Party with food trucks, craft beer, live music and free admission.

Saturday is the men’s and women’s Criterium Races, a bike parade, street festival, vendors and more. And on Sunday, the Governor’s Ride, Medio Fondo and Gran Fondo offer spectacular views of the rolling hills of Chateau country. Tickets $35–$55. More at WilmGrandPrix.com.

89th Radnor Hunt Races—May 18

Race day is about steeplechase racing, fashion and tradition. Celebrate 89 years of horseracing with everything from stylish tailgates, fancy hats and bow ties to the parade of antique carriages and thoroughbred racing. The Radnor Hunt Races attract a crowd for over 20,000 fans and offer six exciting races featuring horses galloping over hurdles and timber fences for purses totaling $190,000.

This race for open space benefits the Brandywine Conservancy. More at Brandywine.org.

Chadds Ford Historical Society’s Valley Jamboree—May 18–19

Get outside and bring the kiddos to the Chadds Ford Historical Society’s Valley Jamboree. Listen and jam to live bands throughout each day and sample food, wine and beer from local vendors. The kids can enjoy a petting zoo, crafts tent, lawn games, scavenger hunt and a giant 60-foot Titan Obstacle Challenge.

There will also be a section containing local crafters, artisans and merchants to satisfy your shopping needs. Tickets $5–$15, children under 6 free. More at ChaddsFordHistory.org.

Chester County Studio Tour—May 18–19

Go on an art tour this weekend as you travel from studio to studio to enjoy artwork from local Chester County artists. Photography, oil paintings, mosaics, sculptures, beads and jewelry, and more—the Chester County Studio Tour features art from 144 artists at 62 different studios.

Vote for your favorite artist online for a chance to win $50 towards buying a piece of local art—and to give your favorite artist a chance to win $500! Find participating artists and a map on the website. Free. More at CountyStudioTour.com.

The Devon Horse Show and Country Fair—May 23–June 2

See Olympic-caliber riders, the best local riders, junior classes and munchkins on the Lead Line or come for the fun at the Country Fair—like the Ladies Hat contest on Wednesday. There’s plenty more fun at the country’s oldest and largest outdoor multi-breed horse show, inside and outside the ring. Visit the Country Fair’s midway attractions and boutiques.

The Devon Horse Show is more than just another equestrian event—for many it’s a great family generation spanning generations marking the start of summer. With 11 days, the show provides an experience like no other horse show. Benefits Bryn Mawr Hospital. More at DevonHorseShow.net.
