Spotted This Week

Preview of the National Dog Show this weekend

This week, we spotted lots of furry friends at the National Dog Show press preview event!

National Dog Show cohost David Frei introduced us to the three new breeds competing this year — Daisy and Jasper the Bracci Italiani (wich we learned is the plural of Bracco Italiano), Jonas the longhair and Pryxis the shorthair Russian Toy, and Swift the Mudi. Swift and her handler joined via Zoom, as Swift is expecting puppies very soon!

As Frei told us, these breeds may be newly recognized by the American Kennel Club, but they have been around in their countries of origin for a long time.

We also met therapy dogs from PAWS for People, like Tory the Golden Retriever and Charlotte the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, and the National Dog Show Therapy Dog Ambassador Team. If you attend the dog show this weekend, you can meet Dyson the Shetland Sheepdog at the Therapy Dog Ambasssador Meet and Greet and watch Wasabi the Bullmastiff — newly inaugurated as a National Dog Show Therapy Dog Ambassador — compete for Best in Show!
