The Beatles Dog Whistle
The Beatles’ seminal 1967 album, Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, includes a little canine-related trick. In 2013, Paul McCartney revealed that at the end of the album’s final track, “A Day in the Life,” includes a tone pitched at 15 kilohertz, a sound audible only to dogs. According to McCartney, the Fab Four added the tone at the request of John Lennon, who asked producer George Martin to dub in the high-pitched frequency.
“If you ever play Sgt. Pepper, watch your dog,” McCartney explained.
