Spotted This Week
West Chester Christmas Parade and Little Lincolns
This week, we spotted two of our favorite events in downtown West Chester: the annual Christmas parade and Gettysburg Address Contest!
The Christmas parade once again lit up West Chester’s streets, featuring more marching bands, award-winning floats, sparkling performances and, of course, Santa’s much-anticipated appearance. Competition winners included the West Chester Area School District Combined Marching Band (Best High School Marching Band), Lasko Productions (Best Commercial Parade Float) and Westminster Presbyterian Church (Best Nonprofit Parade Entry). Plus, a poll crowned the WCU Incomparable Golden Rams Marching Band and the Santa Claus float as fan favorites.
Before the parade, seven middle school “Little Lincolns” braved the cold, donning their best Honest Abe attire to recite the Gettysburg Address from the Lincoln Building balcony. Ananya Kathuria (Pierce Middle School), Ashvaith Adav Vasudev (Fugett Middle School) and Autumn Troop (Fugett Middle School) won first, second and third prizes respectively. Troop was also awarded best costume.
