Blobfest oozes back to Phoenixville
This week, we spotted details about this year’s Blobest in Phoenixville!
Now in its 26th year, Blobfest pays homage to the Colonial Theatre’s starring role in the 1958 Steve McQueen sci-fi hit, “The Blob.” This year’s theme is “Camp Blobfest,” promising an outrageously over-the-top experience filled with nostalgia, thrills and larger-than-life fun. From July 11 to 13, celebrate the cult classic with a killer lineup of events, including a street fair, costume contest and, of course, screenings of the film.
Thanks to a grant from PECO’s Equal Access to Arts and Culture program, there are some new additions to Blobfest this year aimed at expanding outreach efforts with the local Hispanic community. This includes free tickets to all screenings of “La Masa Devoradora” (the Spanish-language version of “The Blob”), a performance by Latin music DJ Jholi at Saturday’s street fair, plus a brand-new Family Fun Zone.
