"Frank Stewart's Nexus" at the Brandywine Museum of Art

This week, we spotted an award-winning photographer and his works at the Brandywine Museum of Art!

We were invited to a special press preview of the museum’s newest exhibition, “Frank Stewart’s Nexus: An American Photographer’s Journey, 1960s to Present.” This retrospective features over 100 black-and-white and color photographs spanning Stewart’s six-decade career.

On a tour led by the exhibition curators and Frank Stewart himself, we saw photographs from the 1963 March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom, Fidel Castro in the late 70s, the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina and even Wuhan, China in 2019. There were also many photos from Stewart’s time as the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra’s staff photographer (1990–2020), featuring jazz legends like Miles Davis, Wynton Marsalis and Ahmad Jamal, and some of the cameras Stewart used throughout his career.
