Nationwide Clear the Shelters Adoption Event

Written by County Lines Magazine

Humane Pennsylvania to hosts fee-waived adoption day

In partnership with NBCUniversal Local’s nationwide Clear the Shelters pet adoption event, Humane Pennsylvania will be hosting a fee-waived adoption event on Saturday, September 6 to celebrate National Clear the Shelters Day!

Thanks to the generosity of donors Ty & Tina Shank, adoption fees will be fully waived for dogs, cats and critters over 6 months old.

“Our friends Ty and Tina have been longtime supporters of Humane Pennsylvania, and their generosity has helped us provide care and find loving homes for countless animals,” said Lauren Henderson Pignetti, Humane PA’s Director of Development. “We are so grateful for their continued dedication to our mission and the animals we serve.”

Since its 2015 inception, the Clear the Shelters initiative has resulted in nearly 1.2 million pet adoptions and raised over $5 million.

Adoptions include:

  • Humane Pennsylvania’s 30-day Adoption Health Supplement
  • Spaying or neutering (prior to adoption)
  • Vaccinations (including current rabies vaccination) and de-worming medication
  • Flea treatment
  • Microchipping and chip registration
  • Free 1 lb. bag of Science Diet pet food

Clear the Shelters

NBCUniversal Local’s Clear the Shelters is an annual nationwide pet adoption and donation campaign held each August. As part of the initiative, NBC- and Telemundo-owned and affiliated stations partner with animal shelters and rescues in communities across the U.S. to promote pet adoption and raise funds for participating shelters.

Clear the Shelters was inspired by a 2014 North Texas pet adoption event hosted by NBC 5/KXAS and Telemundo 39/KXTX. For more information, visit ClearTheShelters.com.

Adopt Me!

Trixie, left, and Jacc, right

Here are two adoptable pets whose lives you can change today.

Trixie

Hello, I’m Trixie! I am a 2-year-old, spayed female domestic shorthair brought to the shelter because my previous owner did not have enough time for me. I can be rather shy, but I will warm up right away. I love getting pets, snuggling, and playing with toys. Are you interested in adopting me?

Jacc

Hello, I’m Jacc! I am a 10-year-old neutered male domestic shorthair. I was brought to the shelter because my previous owner couldn’t keep me. I’m a pretty shy guy, but I don’t mind getting pets and playing with toys. I would do best in a quiet home.  Are you interested in adopting me? Come meet me today!
