National Change A Pet’s Life Day
Humane Pennsylvania celebrates by hosting fee-waived adoption event
Humane Pennsylvania is celebrating National Change A Pet’s Life Day with a three-day, fee-waived adoption event, generously sponsored by Silverbox Creative Studio. Change A Pet’s Life Day, which falls on January 24, was created to encourage people to adopt pets from shelters and raise awareness about animals in need. From Friday, January 24 to Sunday, January 26, dogs, cats, and critters at the Berks and Lancaster County shelter campuses will be free to safe, loving homes.
“Adoption fees can often be a hurdle for potential pet parents, and by sponsoring them, we hope to remove that barrier and give these animals the second chance they deserve. Pets have an incredible way of bringing joy, love, and connection into our lives, and celebrating Change a Pet’s Life Day is the perfect opportunity to highlight how impactful adoption can be—for both the animals and the families who welcome them home. We’re honored to support Humane Pennsylvania in their lifesaving work and to help inspire others to open their hearts and homes to a shelter pet,” said Susan Sidoriak of Silverbox Creative Studio.
Silverbox Creative Studio generously sponsored Humane Pennsylvania’s Change a Pet’s Life Day adoption event in 2024, and 29 animals found their “furever” homes.
Adopters wishing to provide a forever home for shelter animals are encouraged to visit the shelter campuses or HumanePA.org. All potential adopters are required to go through Humane Pennsylvania’s diligent adoption screening process (approval is not guaranteed). Some restrictions may apply. Pets under 6 months of age are not included in this promotion.
Adoptions include:
- Humane Pennsylvania’s 30-day Adoption Health Supplement
- Spaying or neutering (prior to adoption)
- Vaccinations (including current rabies vaccination) and de-worming medication
- Flea treatment
- Microchipping and chip registration
- Free 1 lb. bag of Science Diet pet food

Big Charlie
Hi there! I’m Big Charlie. I am a 8-year-old neutered male domestic shorthair. I was brought in when my last family had to move away. In my last home I lived with kids and dogs and did great! In the shelter I have gotten along really well with other cats as well. My last family said I have had crystals in my urine in the past so I am kept on a prescription diet to help prevent any further issues. Do I sound like a good fit for your family? Come by the Lancaster Adoption Center today!
Lorelai
Hi there! I’m Lorelai. I am a 1-year-old spayed female domestic shorthair. I was found as a friendly stray with my kittens. My kittens have all found their forever homes and now it’s my turn! I’m a nervous girl and am searching for a calm and quiet home to settle in to. I do have some special needs, please call the shelter staff to learn more! I enjoy head scratches and calm pets. Interested in meeting me? Come by the Lancaster Adoption Center today!
Brownie
Hi there! I’m Brownie. I am a 2-year-old, male rabbit, and I was brought with 6 of my kits. We are all very sweet and social bunnies but we are ready to find our new forever home. I would do great in any home who and time and space to properly care for me. I enjoy eating vegetables and hay, and my favorite part of the day is hopping around and exploring the Critter Adoption Center. Do I sound like a good fit for your family? Come by today!
