Celebrate Rocky's dog Butkus at Pugs and Mugs Yappy Hour

Kathryn Ott Lovell, President and CEO of the Philadelphia Visitor Center Corporation, announcing RockyFest 2024

The Philadelphia Visitor Center Corporation recently announced RockyFest 2024, an action-packed celebration of the iconic “Rocky” film franchise and the underdog spirit embodied by the City of Philadelphia. The schedule of events kicks off with the second annual “Rocky Day” on Tuesday, December 3 and continues through Sunday, December 8 with special events and new opportunities for visitors who take the Rocky pilgrimage to experience the city where it all began, including Southpaws @ The Docks: Pugs and Mugs Yappy Hour.

The Kennel Club of Philadelphia and the Philadelphia Visitor Center invite you and your furry friends to celebrate the iconic bond between Rocky and his beloved Bullmastiff, Butkus. This pet-friendly happy hour will feature light refreshments and beverages benefiting the Philadelphia Kennel Club.

“We so appreciate being involved in RockyFest in recognition of the Bullmastiff ‘Butkus,’ one of the movie’s great characters,” said Wayne Ferguson, President of the Kennel Club of Philadelphia (KCP). “Loyal friend and training partner, Butkus enriched Rocky’s life and it’s cool to celebrate the Bullmastiff breed, one of dogdom’s most prominent.”

Bullmastiffs will be among almost 200 breeds and 2,000 dogs on hand when the KCP hosts the National Dog Show at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center in Montgomery County, November 16 and 17.
