Shop Small in Downtown West Chester—Nov. 29–Dec. 1

Shop small and shop local this holiday season! West Chester reserves the whole weekend for a 3-day shopping extravaganza to encourage shopping small and supporting the more than 100 independently owned businesses in downtown West Chester.

While you’re downtown, shop for unique gifts at The 5 Senses, tish Boutique or Malena’s, and grab lunch and drinks at Iron Hill, Mas Mexicali or Saloon 151. Use the hashtags #WCShopSmall or #WCEatLocal on social media for a chance to be featured on West Chester’s Facebook page or social stories. Free parking at meters and metered lots. 21st Annual Miniature Show & Big Red Bow Lighting at Sunset Hill Fine Arts Gallery—Nov. 29–Dec. 24

Come celebrate local art at the 21st Annual Miniature Show, featuring artwork from 21 local artists. The exhibit is one of the area’s largest collections of unique and smaller sized original paintings. Miniatures make great gifts! Browse the art and find the perfect painting for that special someone. The exhibit runs through December 24.

Stop by for the Opening Reception on November 29, and stay for the Big Red Bow Lighting. Free. More at SunsetHillJewelers.com.

Town Holiday Celebrations—Nov. 29–Dec. 21

There’s plenty to do and see in our nearby towns during the holiday season—we’ve rounded up several of the celebrations you don’t want to miss.

Downingtown—Christmas music, face painting, kids crafts and games, hot chocolate Santa—just a taste of what to expect at the Christmas Tree Lighting on Nov. 30. Kennett Square—The town lights up for the annual Holiday Light Parade, including antique cars, marching bands, Santa and more! Media—Downtown Media has its Holiday Stroll & Festival of Lights on Nov. 30. Enjoy sales, the tree lighting on Plum Street Mall, horse-drawn carriages and more. Plum Street Mall, 5–8 p.m. The Santa Parade & Fun Run is Dec. 1 with a block party, 1-mile fun run/walk and a parade featuring Santa and Mrs. Claus. Phoenixville—The Holiday Parade and the Winter Wonderland Village will be on Dec. 6, with the tree lighting to follow. The Firebird Festival is Dec. 7, enjoy shopping and festivities in town followed by the lighting of the phoenix at 8pm. See the website for even more events. West Chester—If you’re from the area, you likely already know about the QVC West Chester Christmas Parade. Come out Dec. 6 first for the Jingle Elf Run, and stay for the parade to see local schools, businesses, volunteer fire companies and other local organizations join marching bands, floats and antique vehicles. Community Arts Center’s Holiday Sale of Fine Craft & Pottery—Dec. 5–14

Make some progress on your holiday shopping list at the annual Holiday Sale of Fine Craft & Pottery at the Community Arts Center. The sale will feature one-of-a-kind handcrafted objects by more than 50 local artists, in mediums like ceramics, jewelry, glass, photography, wood and more.

Come out for the Preview Party, on Thursday, Dec. 5 to hear a performance by the Media Chamber Chorale and live piano by Jeff Knoettner. Preview Party tickets, $5, free for CAC benefactors. More at CACHolidaySale.org.

West Chester Charity Ball—Dec. 7
