Picture an 18th-century farmhouse being redesigned by a modern team of landscapers, designers and craftspeople for a worthy cause. It’s not difficult to imagine why this fundraiser has been held for over 34 years and counting.
Sponsored by the Village Improvement Association of Doylestown, this year’s Bucks County Designer House & Gardens fundraiser kick-starts its month-long open house showcasing 27 talented designers and 13 landscapers. With a commitment to raise $750,000 for the Doylestown Hospital, Chairwoman Georgia Ford comments, “We are well along our way to meeting that goal — $283,000 was raised last year as we had over 10,000 visitors.”
Set on over 100 acres of lush fields, Fieldstone Farm, this year’s picturesque featured home, boasts a three-story jockey cottage, swimming pool, stables, 1780s summer kitchen, exquisite master bedroom and much more.
From paving cobblestone paths to creating colorful gardens, skilled landscapers brighten the farmhouse with a stylish facelift. Designers incorporate an equestrian theme into their vision for the rooms using barn wood floors, stone walls and horse hair fabrics, and a “green” theme by using recycled and repurposed items.
The fun doesn’t stop there. Don’t miss the Fashion Show & Artisan Cuisine, Meet the Landscapers and Designers events, Barn Shop Boutiques, among other seminars and events. And grab a sandwich-salad-cookie combo from the cafe! -CL-
